Tailoring Tips

I tell each of my clients within the first 20 minutes of meeting them, “A good tailor is invaluable to your wardrobe.” Clothing off the rack isn’t meant to fit all body shapes. We are all created with unique beatiful figures, don’t let off-the-rack clothing discourage your purchases. Here are some tips on how to find a good tailor or seamstress.

Ask–See a well dressed person in a suit walking down the street? Ask them. 99% chance they have had their suit altered.

Ask-in high end boutiques. Small boutique owners are dependent on their customers happiness. They are likely to use the best tailors in the cities, because they can’t afford to disappoint.

Proof of work-ask to see their finished work. If they do not have any to show you leave.

Get tailor’s advise-Ask the tailor what they think is best. A good tailor will know possible alterations and how far they can push the boundries.

We are created equal-They aren’t female pattern makers, but they are great at minimal alterations for women’s clothing.

Skip-dry cleaners unless it’s a simple pant hem.

Skip-the department stores, they are often in a hurry.
